Symphony Bluelight Search is a flexible,
web-enabled search engine that
allows the user to search their address
database and return results in subsecond
time.
Irrespective of the data source and method of managing that data, the
one thing that is absolutely essential to the emergency services is the need
for fast and accurate access. The quicker data can be
accessed, the quicker it can be used and the better the emergency response.
With a look and feel that is based on
the Google search engine, Symphony
Bluelight Search primarily consists of a
simple, one line search bar in which the
search terms are entered. It allows for ‘wildcard searches’ if the user is unsure
of the complete search term and ‘fuzzy
searches’ that means words will be
found even if misspelt.

access to your central address database,
removing the need for different
departments to maintain their own data
and giving the confidence that all staff

Symphony Bluelight Search is not
just a search engine for addresses
however and through the use of our ‘adaptor’ technology it can be used to
search other databases alongside your
addresses. This includes the ability to
search for both names and addresses.
1. Type
Simplicity is at the core of Symphony
Bluelight Search and its simple one line
search bar allows the user to type any
part of the address or combination of
address components.
This could include the house number and
postcode, just the street or even the UPRN,
and the results will be returned based
on this criteria.
It means the user can search on any
criteria, which is ideal in response
situations when address information
maybe scarce.
2. Select
In sub-second time, Symphony Bluelight
Search will return all results that match
your search criteria, intuitively placing
the best matches first.
In most searches for house number and
postcode or if the search is on UPRN
then the user will be jump straight
through to the results screen.
With broad searches e.g. postcode only,
it is then a simple process for the user to
select their desired result and access the
full address data.
3. Result
They are a number of ways to view the
results once selected. As standard it will
show the Mailing Address along with the
UPRN, USRN, Easting and Northing, all
of which can be Copied and Pasted into
other applications.
If the property has an Alternative
Address then there is the option to
show this also. In addition to the Mail
and Alternative Addresses, Symphony
Bluelight Search allows you to show the
address in BS7666 format and any cross
references associated with that address.
