Deriving the use of GIS for deployment and strategic planning
The use of GIS in the Emergency Services is rapidly expanding, yet in
many instances its use it still limited to a few departments. With the
tremendous benefits that can be derived from its use, Symphony Bluelight
Search has been designed with GIS in mind.
The vast majority of address data sources
contain a geocode alongside the address,
which enables a property location to be
sourced using GIS. Symphony Bluelight
Search is compatible with any third party
web mapping solution, giving all users access
to spatial visualisation of the data.
By viewing your results against your
selected mapping layer you can view
your result against crime maps, social
demographics, flood data etc.
The use of GIS in the emergency services
allows for the effective and efficient
deployment of resources, through the
quick and easy cross referencing of the
incident location with availability.
By having access to GIS data when
searching for an address, relevant
information can be quickly passed to
operational staff in order to aid their
decision making, whilst longer term,
informing better strategic planning.
