Bournemouth Achieves Level 1 status thanks to the Symphony Suite

Aligned Assets are pleased to announce that one of their customers; Bournemouth Borough Council has achieved level one status with Intelligent Addressing for their accurate LLPG data.

Bournemouth Borough Council have been working hard in the last year to get to improve their Level 2 status and thanks to the Symphony Suite from Aligned Assets, Bournemouth has now achieved what was once deemed the unachievable.

Bournemouth Borough Council had already compiled an LLPG with a piece of software which operated on a standalone basis.  However, the existing system could not evolve much further due to its own proprietary architecture.  Furthermore, the software utilised for the LSG was no longer supported by the software provider and a replacement piece of software would need to be acquired.

After establishing that the two separate pieces of software they had were no longer sufficient for the business needs of the organisation, time was taken to explore all the possible solutions and Bournemouth Borough Council investigated the pros and cons of software, the companies, the capital and the on-going costs.

Through conversing with fellow custodians at regional LLPG and LSG meetings, Aligned Assets solutions were recognised as the favoured choice of software supplier for many authority’s LLPG/LSG requirements.

Said Neil Poulton, Business Analyst (LLPG/GIS) for Bournemouth Borough Council; “When it came to the decision of acquiring a new Gazetteer Management System (GMS), the Symphony Suite was considered to be by far the best solution for Bournemouth Borough Council.

The introduction of the Symphony Suite to Bournemouth Borough Council has made life much easier for all concerned. The modules that make up the Symphony Suite provide a total solution for data cleansing, data matching, data management and data dissemination of the two gazetteers. This fulfils all of Bournemouth’s requirements both internal to the authority and outside partnerships.”

Bournemouth is now capable of maintaining its LLPG and LSG and can view the information in both textural and spatial formats. This will assist with the data quality standards of the gazetteers. The key officers involved with the maintenance of the gazetteers are impressed with how simple and easy the package is to use.
