About SinglePoint
SinglePoint acts as a unique portal through
which an entire organisation can gain access to the National Land
and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) or Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG).
Via web services, SinglePoint can remove unnecessary licensing costs, dramatically increase accuracy and has a wide variety of implementation methods.
Put simply, all information with an address component, across a wide variety of
gazetteers, can now be quickly and efficiency sourced from simple, user friendly
SinglePoint.
SinglePoint Search was developed
by Aligned Assets for the British
Transport Police (BTP) and this
original design was expanded to make
it a solution available to the wider
market, which is now known simply as SinglePoint. It retains the all the robustness, functionality and reliability that was demanded by the BTP, which is the reason it stands head and shoulders above everything else on the market.
Consistent Data through SinglePoint
With SinglePoint there is no longer any need to have
different departments each maintaining
their own address and location data.
Not only is it a tremendous waste
of manpower, but leads to huge
inconsistency in organisational data.
By using web services, SinglePoint gives all departments access
to the same, consistent data and in
doing so reduces costs, reduces the risk
of errors caused by inconsistent data
and ultimately allows you to offer a
more efficient and higher level of service
to the customer.
How SinglePoint works
Whether using SinglePoint for LLPG or NLPG, the same, simple three step principle applies.
Step 1. Type your query

Simplicity is at the core of SinglePoint and its simple, 'google-like' one line
search bar allows the user to type any
part of the address or combination of
address components.
This could include the house number
and postcode, just the street or even the
UPRN, and the results will be returned
based on this criteria.
It means the user can search on any
criteria, which is ideal when address information
maybe scarce, but additionally means that results can be easily found using less information.
Step 2. Select your desired result

In sub-second time, SinglePoint will return all results that match
your search criteria, intuitively placing
the best matches first.
With broad searches e.g. postcode only,
it is then a simple process for the user to
select their desired result and access the
full address data.
(In most searches for house number and
postcode or if the search is on UPRN
then the user will jump straight
through to the results screen.)
Step 3. Your results

They are a number of ways to view the
results once selected. As standard, SinglePoint will
show the Mailing Address along with the
UPRN, USRN, Easting and Northing, all
of which can be Copied and Pasted into
other applications.
If searching your LLPG and the property has an Alternative
Address then there is the option to
show this also. In addition to the Mail
and Alternative Addresses, SinglePoint LLPG allows you to show the
address in BS7666 format and any cross
references associated with that address.
