What is Address Searching?
Address searching is one of the most fundamental solutions when it comes to gazetteer and address management - you have addresses, but you need to fine the one(s) you are looking for.
Although many companies offer a postcode search, there are many more options available, and with Symphony SinglePoint from Aligned Assets the ability to search addresses is fully customisable.
Simple One Line Search
Using a method very similar to internet search engines, the simple one line search option enables you to type any part of the address or combination of address components into the search bar and have this as your search criteria.

House Number and Postcode Search
The search mechanism most often used on web sites whereby you type the house name/number and the postcode in order to retrieve the address. In this example, the search has been customised further to give the additional option of searching on the street name.

Integration with Internet Explorer
To make accessing your address search easier, you can integrate into Internet Explorer, making it as simple to look up an address as it is to search Google or Bing.

Multiple Searching Options
You can have complete control over the search criteria you want to set up and offer your users a wide range of options if required.

Web services
Although in many instances address searching will take place through the customisable front end, as per the examples above, there is also the option to establish web services that enable other software systems to search addresses when required.
More information about web services is available here.
