The NLPG at National ParksThe MSA facilitates the regular updating
of NLPG data to the National Parks and once the
original block of data has been acquired
they can receive updates once a week,
twice a week or even everyday.
This results in the address data being
effectively live data in that changes in a
local authority are automatically fed to
the NLPG, which in turn is fed directly to
the National Parks.

The NLPG is a solution in itself and Aligned Assets offer products to make this solution complete.
- The NLPG at National Parks
- Managing NLPG address data
- Candidate Process
- Searching the NLPG
- Out of area data
Currently, 8% of all land in England is constituted as National Park, raising to 20% in Wales and despite their rural nature a large number of properties fall within the boundaries of the National Parks. This rural nature makes accurate addressing absolutely essential and their use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) necessitates precise and up to date geographical coordinates.
More than any other address data in England and Wales, the NLPG provides both the addressing and geography that makes the work of the National Parks highly efficient, from tourism through to planning applications.

The ability to manage and process address data lies at the very heart of our solutions for the National Parks. We enable them to centralise their NLPG data and easily process the updates that they will receive from the National Hub.
Though our gazetteer management solution they will also gain the ability to create and manage Local Records that could be specific to their work, but not necessarily held in the NLPG e.g. areas of tourist interest. In addition to this, our solutions now offer the ability to add non-BS7666 data to each record through the use of user defined fields. This could be anything from flood designations through to a free form notes field.

With the wider use of the NLPG, the creation and processing of candidate records has become ever more important. Our gazetteer management solution, Symphony iManage, is fully enabled to allow the user to create candidates and export them for insertion into the NLPG.

The nature of property means that it is constantly in flux and though new developments will always be entered into the NLPG via the Street Naming and Numbering process, other changes, if unknown to a local authority, will remain un-entered into the NLPG.
The candidate process allows for the end user to quickly and easily inform local authorities of changes in the NLPG data so they can update their systems and thereby update the NLPG. With the candidate process available to all receiving authorities, the accuracy of the NLPG will be derived not just frmo local authorities, but also by the Police, the Fire & Rescue Service and the National Parks.

Good management of data will mean very little without a good method through which that data can be accessed. We can offer solutions that allow the fast and simple retrieval of your gazetteer data either via a web browser or as web services. Virtually all departments within a National Park require accurate address data and our SinglePoint search solution enables them all to have access. This increases efficiency, saves time and importantly, saves money.

Although much of the work done by National Parks will require only addresses that fall within their administrative boundaries, a sizable portion will require 'out of area' data. Through the MSA, National Parks are entitled to receive and fully utilise all 32 millions records from the NLPG and our solutions will give quick and easy access to that data - our SinglePoint solution can in fact search the entire NLPG and return your results in sub-second time.
This will have particularly application in tourism when the vast majority of visitor to the National Park will come from out of area. Requests for information through to address verification can all be facilitated via the use of the NLPG.
