local land and property gazetteer llpg
A Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) is a collection of address and location data created by a local authority. Prior to the initialization of the LLPGs, local authorities would have different address data held across different departments and the purpose of the Local Land and Property Gazetteers was to rationalize the data, so that a property or a particular plot of land is referred to as the same thing, even if they do have different names.
The Local Land and Property Gazetteers were created by extracting information from a variety of sources such as the Electoral Register. The information within the Local Land and Property Gazetteers were then standardised to BS7666, which means that all data within them, regardless of the authority, is stored and maintained in an identical fashion. It is because of this standardisation that the LLPGs can be amalgamated to form the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG).
With the completion of the NLPG, local authorities will be able to fully utilise their Local Land and Property Gazetteers by being able to share that data across departments using products like Symphony iExchange.
Products such as Symphony iMatch allow for other address data to be matched to the LLPG, whilst Symphony iManage enabled creation and subsequent mainatinence of all Local Land and Property Gazetteer data.
