We are very excited to be working with the Woking Food and Drink Festival this year, delivering a fun and useful augmented reality smartphone app designed to enhance the experience of festival goers.
Finding out what’s on and where has never been easier! By downloading the Woking Food and Drink Festival 2019 app, visitors can see what’s on offer at the simple click of a button. By tapping on the Stalls button, you’ll be taken through to a list of all the traders at the festival. Tap on the one you like the look of and it’ll give you more information about them, as well as showing you where to find them on the festival map. You can search for any specific stall you’re looking for, and if you only want to visit a certain type of stall, such as vegan or Italian food, or just drinks, you can use the filter to produce your list.
Festival events and activities
The app also features a What’s On button. This will show the current day’s full schedule of events, highlighting the ones that are about to start. Again, just tap on the event that takes your fancy and it will take you through to detailed description, including whether it’s free or not, venue details, and a link to where to find it on the map.
AR treasure hunt
In addition to helping visitors find their way around the festival, the app can be used to take part in an augmented reality treasure hunt. Using technology that’s better known for games like Pokemon, festival goers can use that app to find nine treasure sites. Just tap on the app’s Treasure Hunt button, select a festival zone and point your phone to likely points of interest. You can get hints as to the treasure locations by clicking on the Check Progress button and selecting any one of the unfound treasures – as soon as you find a treasure site, an augmented reality coin will spin onto the screen – just tap on it to collect. There are thirteen AR coins in total, but you only need to collect nine. Pop along to the Information Point in Jubilee Square and present your full augmented reality treasure chest – prizes will be given to the first 50 people with full treasure chests each day of the festival. Terms and Conditions apply.
This specially developed Woking Food and Drink Festival app will be released by mid-August for both Android (Google Play) and iOS (Apple Store) phones – watch this space for the release date.
