In the first of our new blog series “Our Day At…” Anton talks about Our Day at the GeoData 2016 London Showcase. Written by Anton Clark, Marketing Coordinator for Aligned Assets
On December 1st 2016, we exhibited and presented at the GeoData 2016 London Showcase for the 3rd time in as many years.
After meticulously setting our stand up, we were pleased to receive a steady stream of delegates coming over to us almost from the minute the doors opened. This continued throughout the day and we were delighted to be able to speak to a wide range of people from different industries and sectors all with one thing in common, a desire and passion for Aligned Assets jelly beans, pens and badges!
And GIS. Probably.
This year our presentation topic was about our recent work in Augmented Reality. Presented in the Cambridge suite by Product Manager Dinesh Thanigasalam and assisted by Managing Director Andy Hird our presentation explored the use of GIS in Augmented Reality and the benefits it can bring to Local Authorities, the Emergency Services and those in the Private Sector.
We were very happy with the fact that auditorium was nearly full and even happier that the interest generated by the presentation translated into increased footfall to our stand.
Alongside information on our core gazetteer and address management software products, we were able to demonstrate the various uses for our new Augmented Reality app Symphony AR, in real-time to anyone who wanted to see it. This piqued a lot of interest amongst the delegates attending and provoked several engaging conversations about the role technology has to play in the future of Addressing and GIS.
The most popular feature by a long way was the Image Recognition view within Symphony AR. Reactions to it were brilliant throughout the day, but our favourite was being called wizards with a magic post it note book.
As always we had a fantastic day at the GeoData 2016 London showcase and thanks must be sent in the direction of Mel, Alun, Nikki and the rest of the team at the GeoInformation Group for another well run, positive and knowledgeable event. We’ve already signed up to exhibit and present again next year and we look forward to bringing our wizard hats and magic books for another beneficial day.
