SinglePoint is our main search engine that enables people and/or systems to search for an address. The main source of addresses is either our LLPG or LSG local authority gazetteer (iManage) or our AddressBase Premium gazetteers for emergency services and energy and water utilities (Bluelight). It can also search for data such as occupants and neighbours of a property as defined in the electoral role.
Simple or advanced search
The SinglePoint searching can be carried out using a single line address called a simple search or a more defined search on specific elements of the address called an advanced search. The searching is both powerful and adaptable. It searches across every element of a BS7666 address as stored in our gazetteers and can be enhanced by the use of advanced features such as wildcard characters and abbreviation substitution.
It can be configured for predictive searching for ease of use. It can also be made specific to an organisation’s need by searching on a defined spatial area. The searching can be further enhanced by features such as iterative searching where a search is carried out on a specific area and then automatically extended to a larger area if no address is found. SinglePoint’s spatial capability includes radial and polygon searches.
Searching via web services
Operational systems can also use the SinglePoint search engine via the use of our web services. This enables any system that can consume web services to do address lookups, utilising all the features described above to ensure any address that is used is consistent and as up-to-date as possible.
Third parties using web services
We help third party suppliers consume our web services and provide them with demo sites and developer help where necessary. It enables any operational system that has integrated to provide its users with the most up-to-date and accurate address held in our gazetteer. Examples include systems provided by Jadu, Capita, Niche, Motorola, Esri, Cadcorp, Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, Landmark and many more.
