Symphony AR

Symphony AR is an Augmented Reality application that provides its users visual, real time data relevant to their current location and circumstance. Well suited to front-line Emergency Services and Local Government staff, it facilitates the access of important information to better safeguard staff and the public.

The Benefits of Symphony AR

The Benefits of Symphony AR

Symphony AR gives any organisation the ability to share and interact with its spatial data in an innovative, intuitive and more informative way on a mobile device. It reduces time to identify and interrogate assets or points of interest. Its filtering capability reduces confusion caused by data overload whilst at the same time gives access to more detailed information when needed by being able to interact with it. This all leads to greater efficiency, ease of use and safety for staff and customers, saving organisations time and money. It also helps an organisation embrace the very latest technologies without spending the earth, keeping them ahead of their competitors.

We are all used to 2D electronic maps on our smartphones. They now form an invaluable way of finding our way and finding what’s around us. However there are limitations. A 2D map is completely virtual. It represents our surroundings in a completely abstract way. When we use it, we need to get our bearings and interpret it for it to make sense and start becoming useful. Wouldn’t it be great if all the things we were interested in on a map stood out and could be seen against a real background rather than a virtual abstract one? There will be no need to get our bearings and minimum interpretation of what is seen. Seeing the points of interest against our actual surroundings also gives us context we can never get with our virtual representation. Well, that is exactly what Symphony AR does. It places a computer generated image of all the locations you are interested against what you can see in real life.

Features

Features

Available as an app on either an Android or iOS (iPhone) smartphone, it enables you to see your own data in augmented reality. This can be location or boundary data. It also has image recognition capability and ability to show 3D animated images.

Symphony AR enables you to:

  • See any location or asset as an augmented reality point
  • Show your own data in augmented reality
  • Filter the data by range or a category of your choosing
  • Choose which of your data is seen when interacting with the images
  • Access the app on Android and Apple smartphones
  • Make the app show any boundary it is in.
  • Recognise images to trigger augmented reality
  • Display interactive 3D models the user can manipulate.
  • Choose and upload your own images or use our extensive library
  • Make the app available to all or restrict access with a device manager
  • Show proximity based banner ads or messages
Show points of interest

Show points of interest

Any location or static asset with a geographic coordinate such as Eastings and Northings or Latitude and Longitude can be shown as an augmented reality image in the app. This can be used for information, safety or operational purposes.

The size of the image will vary according to its distance from you. The image shown will also vary according to the category of data which is something you can choose. When you click on the image, you can also determine what further data relating to the location or asset is shown. The app allows you to filter by category of the points and also their distance from you.

Augment your own data

Augment your own data

Although the app allows you to access publicly available data such as OS Greenspaces or TFL Bus stops, the most important thing is that it enables you to see your own spatial data in augmented reality.

It does this very quickly and has all the mechanisms to keep this representation up to date by pulling data directly from your systems. This can be from a database, APIs or via a scheduled upload of files from your systems. The whole app is designed to the data and content such as the images to be controlled and managed by you and not a software provider like us. This all makes this quick to deploy and very affordable.

Smart glasses compatible

Smart glasses compatible

Symphony AR has been designed to work with all mainstream smartglasses. So whether its hardware from Epson, Vuzix or ODG our application is compatible with them all. Symphony AR works on recent Android Operating Systems and allows you to choose what hardware platform suits your needs best. Whilst smartphone and tablets are likely to be the popular choice, now that the smart glasses technology has significantly evolved since Google Glass days, we fully expect smartglasses to become a practical consideration.

If you would like to speak with us around using the smart glasses we can make arrangements for an account manager to visit you and show you their capabilities when using Symphony AR.

Boundary Awareness

Boundary Awareness

The Boundary Awareness view has been designed to give an overview of a defined area rather than a specific point. These have been designed to show users what area they are in, for County through to Ward and Parish levels. Environmental factors can also be displayed, such as Flood Risk areas or protected woodlands.

Location intelligence holds great importance to Local Authorities. There are multiple geographic boundaries, both political and environmental. but the exact location of these boundaries or areas may not be immediately obvious when out in the field. Symphony AR for Local Authorities provides a speedy, near instantaneous visualisation of these areas.

This gives staff in the field the ability to use a deeper pool of location intelligence to draw from, which could make all the difference when split second operational decisions are required to be made.

Symbol Recognition

Symbol Recognition

The Symbol Recognition view provides users with the ability to decipher preloaded images in a quick and efficient manner to improve the decision making.

By holding their device up to an image, the data stored against it will be displayed in Augmented Reality, enabling users to see relevant information, which can be displayed as images and/or text, as a table or even as a video.
This can be used to provide extra information on a range of scenarios, including Conservation, Nature Trails, Heritage Sites and Hazards.

Symbol Recognition in Symphony AR for Local Authorities covers a number of different scenarios. It can be used to educate, to inform and even to decipher hazard or warning symbols. No matter which direction the user is approaching the Symbol Recognition from, they all exist to provide the same outcome – providing an extra level of intelligence that informs and helps shape any planning, operational or safety decisions that need to be made which will greatly benefit both Local Authorities and the public.
