As address management experts, we provide the most functionally rich and advanced solution available to access, maintain and share the most accurate and comprehensive address dataset available, Ordnance Survey’s AddressBase Premium, helping our energy and water utility customers to drive efficiencies, maximise revenue remittance and reduce wastage.
With the energy companies being mandated to use AddressBase Premium to deliver next-day-switching, our address cleansing (iMatch) and management solution (Bluelight) can be quickly and easily implemented, integrating effortlessly with any other system you’re using.
Updated on a six-weekly cycle, the AddressBase Premium dataset is derived from local government’s National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG), Ordnance Survey’s OS MasterMap® Address Layer 2 and the Royal Mail’s PAF (Postcode Address File). Adhering to British Standard BS7666, every property and street contains a Unique Property Reference Number (UPRN) or Unique Street Reference Number (USRN), underpinning all historic address or street information. In addition, every property or street is given geographical coordinates, enabling the data to be used within a GIS.
Typically, a utility will have millions of customers and millions of properties they supply gas, electricity or water related services to. Every customer will have a billing address and every property a delivery address, resulting in a utility company storing millions of addresses across multiple systems, and frequently in different formats. In some systems they will be validated to conform to a specific standard, such as the Post Office Address File (PAF), but in others not. And because addresses are often entered manually, inconsistencies in both format and quality result. The impact of even a small percentage of poor addresses is very significant as this can represent hundreds of thousands of addresses, resulting in anything from incorrect billing and unpaid invoices to difficulties facilitating the switching of supplier. Address cleansing and keeping your data clean minimises these inefficiencies while reaping significant benefits. Our solution is optimised to do both.
Powerful, yet easy to use, our address management solution for utilities, allows users to store officially recognised British Standard BS7666 address data centrally, while being able to share across all departments within the utility – be it maintenance, supply, billing etc. It can be combined with any of our software modules to meet whatever complexity of requirements you have.
The address search module (SinglePoint) enables both people and other systems to search for addresses held in the main address management solution. Its front end browser can be deployed across the utility for any staff member to find a specific property. It also has a set of web services that enable a third party system to carry out an address search on the address management solution, enabling a user or system to search across every element of an AddressBase Premium address including provisional, alternate, historic and Royal Mail addresses. This makes every element of an address throughout its full lifecycle available to a utility.
For those organisations using Esri ArcGIS, our integration solution Esri ArcGIS Search Locator, will allow you to search an address directly from Esri ArcGIS using the address data held in our AddressBase Premium gazetteer.
Our agile address management software will integrate seamlessly with other systems being used, allowing you to enjoy the very best solution available with the operational system of your choice. All the resulting automated processes reduce the need for manual intervention, and therefore duplication of effort, saving time and money.
Our spatial data module (Location Manager) will organise all your spatial data from all the different systems and will publish this in any format to any user. This will cover any type of spatial data such as administrative areas, pipelines or specific smart meter zones and are usually, though not restricted to, publication as map files.
In addition to cleansing, synchronising and sharing accurate data (iExchange), utilities can implement the Xtended Data Module (XDM) to record any location specific information against any British Standard BS7666 address or street, such as pipe dimensions or spatial boundary information specific to the utility, or information regarding vulnerability of residents or history of debt.
We further enhance the already extensive set of addresses by merging this with business names data supplied by 118 Information. This is focused on business properties which change on a regular basis. Because this data is tracked more extensively by specialist firm 118 Information, it gives utilities the edge when tracking the supply to and billing for their commercial customers.
Our solution also allows street and property data from AddressBase Premium to be extended by adding street and property data of specific interest to the utility. This can range from the location of meters to access points for standpipes, cattle troughs to gas-pipe junctions – basically any physical feature that is not recorded on the national AddressBase Premium dataset.
