As gazetteer experts, we provide the market leading tools for emergency services to access the most accurate and comprehensive address dataset available, Ordnance Survey’s AddressBase Premium, helping them to drive efficiencies, reduce response times and therefore save more lives.
Updated on a six-weekly cycle, the OS AddressBase Premium dataset is derived from local government’s NLPG (National Land and Property Gazetteer), Ordnance Survey’s OS MasterMap® Address Layer 2 and the Royal Mail’s PAF (Postcode Address File). Adhering to British Standard BS7666, every property and street contains a Unique Property Reference Number (UPRN) or Unique Street Reference Number (USRN), underpinning all historic address or street information. In addition, every property or street is given geographical coordinates, enabling the data to be used within a GIS.
Due to the complexity of the OS AddressBase Premium dataset, a flexible gazetteer solution is required to access, maintain and share the addresses. Our AddressBase Premium gazetteer (Bluelight) is the most functionally rich and advanced gazetteer available, allowing users to store officially recognised British Standard BS7666 address data centrally, while sharing data across the whole organisation. It can be combined with any of our software modules to provide the full gazetteer solution that is right for you.
The address search module (SinglePoint) enables both people and other systems to search for addresses held in the main gazetteer. Its front end browser can be deployed across an emergency service, or collaboration of multiple emergency services, for any staff member to find a specific property. It also has a set of web services that enable a third party system to carry out an address lookup on the AddressBase Premium gazetteer, enabling a user or system to search across every element of an OS AddressBase Premium address including provisional, alternate, historic and Royal Mail addresses. Searches can also be carried out on organisation details and application cross references. This makes every element of an address throughout its full lifecycle available to an emergency service.
For those organisations using Esri ArcGIS, our integration solution Esri ArcGIS Search Locator, will allow you to search an address directly from Esri ArcGIS using the address data held in our AddressBase Premium gazetteer.
Having worked closely with the major suppliers of operational systems to the emergency services, our solution will integrate seamlessly with all major public sector systems, allowing you to enjoy the very best address management solution available with the operational system of your choice. All the resulting automated processes reduce the need for manual intervention, and therefore duplication of effort, saving time and money.
Our gazetteer also allows street and property data from OS AddressBase Premium to be extended by adding street and property data of specific interest to an emergency service. This can range from land, natural or man-made features, to street junctions, roads and paths not nationally recorded. These are often locations where, crime, fire or accidents occur but are not related to a specific commercial or residential building.
Our spatial data module (Location Manager) will organise all your spatial data from all the different systems and will publish this in any format to any user. This will cover any type of spatial data such as administrative areas, flood zones, no-go areas or specific risk zones and are usually, though not restricted to, publication as map files.
In addition to synchronising, matching (iMatch) and sharing accurate data (iExchange), emergency services can implement the Xtended Data Module (XDM) to record any location specific information against any British Standard BS7666 address, such as known risk factors or spatial boundary information specific to the organisation.
We further enhance the already extensive set of addresses by merging this with business names data supplied by 118 Information. This is focused on business properties which change on a regular basis. Because this data is tracked more extensively by specialist firm, 118 Information, it gives emergency services an extra edge when responding to incidents involving commercial properties.
As a modular solution, we can tailor our AddressBase Premium gazetteer to meet your specific needs. Powerful and easy to use, our solution is implemented by over half the Fire and Rescue Services and Police Forces in Great Britain, as well as Ambulance Services, helping them to achieve back office efficiencies, reduced response times and therefore better safeguarding of the public.
